Silvi Alta is a jewel on a green hill. The wall of arches around it looks like a crown. Behind, the biggest mountain of the Appenini: Gran Sasso d’Italia. In front of Silvi, the only Marine Protected Area of the middle Adriatic Sea, Torre del Cerrano.

Welcoming you would be a joy for us. The Relais Borgo sul Mare actually is a part of our family story and of the history of the village we’re working hard for.

In fact, the love we put in every details to welcome you the best way is the same love we feel for our family and town.

We make our best to make you feel home, as in an old traditional hospitality. We’re people welcoming people. And we’re proud of it, because we know we can give you an authenic experience of our awesome territory.

If you want to keep reading, we tell you something more about the reasons we think the Relais Borgo sul Mare is a unique place where to sleep in Abruzzo.

The story of the Relais Borgo sul Mare

You may have already read how our b&b in Abruzzo was born. It We made a Relais to sleep in Abruzzo caring for details in its decoration. We’ve been greatly lucky as our friend Paolo Cameli from helped. He’s a set designer, for example in Life is Beautiful.

We opened our Relais inside a family building, made at the end of the XX century by our ancestor Bontantonio. When he arrived to Silvi he fell in love for Carmela. Thus, he was poor and people thought he was a priest, as he had been studying in a seminary for some years. As you can immagine, Carmela’s family prevented the marriage.

But Bonantonio was very stubborn and managed to marry Carmela and to make a fortune, working for year in the US. When he came back to Silvi he built the house where today you can sleep in.

This isn’t just a place where you can sleep in Abruzzo. This place tells the history of our family and of the village of Silvi too. From the spanish flu ein the 20s, to the World Wars. But it also holds the memory of the everyday life in the village. The ground floor hosted the first restaurant of the village, and now it’s our Convivial Room.

Our father had the idea to make it a place where to sleep in Abruzzo, in the central square of Silvi Alta. We might have some of the stubborness of Bontantonio in our veins, and that’s why we’re working hard to achieve more in the next years.

The future

For us the future is the sustainable tourism in Silvi Alta. We want to achieve it thanks to our project of Ospitalità Diffusa (Widespread Hospitality, we could translate!). We rent to tourists the homes of some local inhabitants. We want to create a kind of tourism that would be profitable for us and for our neighbors too. And it will also give you the chance of choosing where to stay in Silvi Alta, Abruzzo.

Wish you’d really like to be a part of it.
